TOWN centre roads were cordoned off by police after a man threatened to jump from a bridge.
Summer Lane, Victoria Street and surrounding areas were closed by officers at about 6.30pm last Monday.
The man, who was thought to have mental health problems, was talked down by officers.
A spokesman for Network Rail said a the railway line was closed between 6.40pm and 7.20pm and total of four trains were delayed.
But he said the knock-on effect meant another 14 trains were also affected.
