A MAN has been arrested after a hit and run which left a pensioner with serious injuries.

A 62-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding in connection with the incident which happened on Common Lane, Brampton on Tuesday afternoon.

A 67-year-old man was riding a bicycle along the road at around 1.20pm when there was a collision with what is believed to be a red Vauxhall Zafira.

The car failed to stop at the scene and the cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he still remains.

Police are still appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please come forward by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 447 of November 4.
