THE police is working in partnership with Crimestoppers to launch a campaign aimed at tackling drugs and handling stolen goods in Barnsley.
The campaign - designed to encourage the reporting of any offences related to drug dealing and the handling of stolen goods - also reminds potential offenders of the consequences of their actions.
Barnsley officers have also teamed up with CheckMEND to run the 'safe seller' scheme.
Second hand shops in the town are being encouraged to sign up to the scheme preventing stolen goods being sold on.
A ‘safe seller’ poster displayed in their window will identify shops taking part in the scheme.
Gemma Wilson, regional director at Crimestoppers, said: "We're determined to help keep communities safe and provide a voice to those people who want to fight back against crime by giving them an alternative method of reporting that information.
"In the 26 years the charity has been providing this service, we have never broken anyone’s anonymity."
