THE Alhambra's new-look frontage is set to be ready for the Christmas period.
Old red brickwork and the mezzanine level have been removed from the shopping centre's left-hand side and the new framework and glazing have already been installed.
Automatic doors have been put in and with the hoardings planned for removal next week, the second phase of the development will then commence.
A spokesperson from Better Barnsley said: "The entire old dome roof has now been removed and the steel structure is in place.
"The front part which overlooks Cheapside is complete and we're very pleased with the result.
"The Alhambra team expect this project to be finished by mid-November and are very excited to unveil the finished product."
The investment has come from landlords F&C Reit.
