THE Reds' mini revival came to an end at second-placed Peterborough on Saturday.

Devante Cole had put Danny Wilson's visitors in the lead after 15 minutes with a well-taken volley, but the hosts levelled on the stroke of half-time when Conor Washington took advantage of Rhys Williams' sloppy pass.

Marcus Maddison's wonderful free-kick put the hosts in front in the 69th minute, before Barnsley's chances of rescuing a result were hampered by James Bree's sending off with just 15 minutes remaining.

"It's about results but the performance was terrific at times," Wilson said. "As commitment goes, the players gave everything for the club and team.

"To come here at this stage of the season against a club who have invested very well and got a team together that will be challenging at the end of the season - we've put in a terrific performance."

Barnsley return to league action tomorrow night and face Notts County at Oakwell.
