BARNSLEY Hospital workers have staged a four-hour strike in a dispute over pay.

Nationwide industrial action took place from 7-11am on Monday morning, with midwives, nurses and ambulance staff all protesting.

A statement from Barnsley Hospital said: "Plans were in place to ensure that services continued to be delivered safely and consistently throughout the strike period.

"We had been working closely with staff to ensure that any impact to patients was kept to a minimum."

Urgent care was not affected.
