AN Oxford University student has been awarded a top scholarship worth £8,000 to help her through her studies.

Former Penistone Grammar School pupil Chloe Adams-Pickford will be supported with tuition fees at Keble College by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

The 18-year-old, of Cote Lane, Thurgoland, was one of 21 students across the country to be chosen for the scholarship following an application and interview process.

"I was really happy when I found out," Chloe said. "It will mean that I will be able to get involved in wider university stuff that, perhaps, I wouldn't have been able to."

Chloe will receive £2,000 per year for the duration of her four-year course.
