HEARTLESS criminals have ripped out brass plaques engraved in memory of people who have died.

More than half of the plaques were taken at The Limes golf course during an overnight vandalism incident on September 25.

Keith Dickinson, who captained the club when the memorial garden was set up in 1996, said: "I just couldn't believe it - I was shaking.

"They've taken eight or nine plaques, all of them engraved with the details of someone who has died.

"I just can't imagine someone melting these down when they've got those names on. It's just awful."

Anyone with information about the plaques should contact the club on 01226 380358, or police on 101.
