A BARNSLEY lass celebrated her ninth birthday by having her hair chopped off to make wigs for poorly children.

Lydia Gosney, a pupil of Upperwood Academy Primary School, raised £105.50 for Cancer Research UK.

Proud mum Nat said: "She's going to make a poorly child very happy with her beautiful hair.

"Tondeuse on Wombwell High Street did a cracking job and didn't charge a penny."

Lydia had seven inches of her hair cut off and has donated it to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children who have suffered hair loss from cancer treatment.
