FASHION giant ASOS lost sales of around £30 million after a blaze at its Grimethorpe factory in June.

ASOS made the announcement in its trading update for the three months ending August 31 - its final quarter.

The fashion firm had to suspend orders for 48 hours after the fire damaged an estimated 20 per cent of its stock at the five-storey building.

The warehouse - which was more than 60,000 square metres in size - contained up to 10 million boxes of packaging.

"Due to the fire at the distribution centre, we lost sales during the quarter of between £25m and £30m," said CEO Nick Robertson.

"After adjusting for insurance proceeds, we expect profit before tax for the year to be in line with market expectations."

The fire - thought to have been an arson attack - still remains unresolved with an investigation still ongoing.
