A BARNSLEY man who was "showing off" in his car left his two passengers badly injured after crashing at 110mph in a 30mph limit.
Gary Ford, 23, ignored the speed limit on Long Line near Dore, Sheffield, and told his horrified passengers "let's see what speed we can get to" before losing control.
His blue Ford Fiesta took off into the air and crashed into a wall causing significant front-nearside damage, Sheffield Crown Court was told.
His 18-year-old female passenger, who was in the back, needed surgery for a perforated bowel, tears to her pancreas and liver and two fractured vertebrae in her neck and back.
A 15-year-old boy, who was in the front seat, suffered two broken ankles, a broken wrist and chest burns from his seat belt.
Ford, of Darley, Worsbrough Dale, said he had been driving from Hillsborough to Dore and claimed he had been doing 60mph, but his passengers saw the speedometer reach 110mph before the crash.
Prosecutor Claire Larton said: "The female said she was scared to death and bouncing around all over the place and felt horrified.
"They both shouted 'slow down' but he didn't try to brake. The car took off and went straight into the wall."
Ford admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was jailed for 12 months.
Ford was also banned from driving for three years and will have to take an extended test to regain his licence.
