TWO sisters who lost their 44-year-old mother to cervical cancer have raised over £2,000 in her memory.

Mal Taylor died 16 years ago when daughters Kathryn and Kirsty were 15 and seven respectively.

The 42-year-old had suffered some symptoms but delayed having them checked out.

To celebrate what would have been her 60th birthday, Kathryn and Kirsty organised a fun run in Locke Park and a charity night at Highstone WMC.

"Both events proved very popular, with all family and old friends gathering together," Kirsty said.

"We're so grateful to everyone that came along to help us reach this amount. We couldn't have done it without them."

The proceeds will be split between Macmillan Nurses and Barnsley Hospice.
