OVER £600 has been raised in memory of a 22-year-old footballer who died after collapsing at training.

Mykal Porter - affectionately known as 'Harry' - tragically passed away after the previously healthy Carlton Athletic player collapsed during training on August 28.

Teams across Barnsley held a minute's silence at matches last Sunday and the Barnsley Sunday League Forum on Facebook was flooded with hundreds of tributes from stunned teammates and opponents alike.

A charity football tournament took place on September 7 at Littleworth Lane, Lundwood, with £601.40 being raised through a raffle.

Lesley Holland, one of the organisers, said: "Community spirit is well and truly alive in Barnsley so I'd like to say thank you to everyone who attended."
