BARNSLEY midfielder Conor Hourihane has won the League One player of the month award.
Hourihane - a summer signing from Plymouth - caught the eye with three long-range strikes last month.
His first in a Reds shirt was a sublime free-kick at Coventry City to help earn his side a 2-2 draw, before banging home a 25-yard strike in the 4-1 demolition of Gillingham.
He made it a hat-trick of superb goals with another 25-yarder against Yeovil.
The Irishman was up against Preston's Chris Humphrey, Coventry's Reda Johnson and Bradford's James Hanson.
Barnsley manager Danny Wilson said: "I'm delighted with the impact Conor has had here.
"The award is thoroughly deserved. I'm sure he will be looking for more!"
