THE Reds have signed Devante Cole, a highly-rated striker from Manchester City.
The loan deal for the 19-year-old runs until January 5 and he will be eligible to play in both the FA Cup and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
Cole has advanced all the way up through City's ranks and is recognised as one of the best strikers of his age in the country.
"I’d like to thank Manchester City for allowing such a promising young player to join us," said Barnsley boss Danny Wilson.
"What we’ve got is a promising young lad who wants to start his league football off.
"He’s had plenty of opportunities to go to clubs but he’s decided we are the right one for him. We’re very privileged in that respect.
"What he has got is great pace and an eye for goal. He can be a very exciting acquisition for us."
