THOUSANDS of Barnsley voters have been sent letters reminding them to check the details of their postal votes.

Barnsley Council has written to over 11,000 locals reminding them they must provide a new sample of their signature every five years to continue to be able to vote by post. The council says if this doesn't get done before March 12, the postal vote will be cancelled. Coun Jim Andrews said: “Over time, people’s signatures change, and we need to ensure an accurate record of voters’ signatures is kept. If you have received a signature refresh letter, or a reminder letter, and have not yet returned it, please do so straight away."
