A WEATHER warning has been issued for this afternoon.
The Met Office has predicted that heavy showers and thunderstorms are set to develop across the region, with some expected to persist well into the evening.
The public should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding, with the added hazard of lightning in some areas.
A spokesperson from the Met Office said: "In some locations, downpours may produce in excess of 30mm of rain in two or three hours, while other places will escape the worst."
