ENFORCEMENT officers wearing body cameras will be patrolling Barnsley's streets in a bid to clamp down on littering and dog fouling.

Central, Dearne, North, North East and South area councils have joined forces to target those individuals who fail to clean up after themselves.

A 12-month initiative in partnership with private sector company will see an additional twelve full-time and one part-time enforcement officers patrolling streets across the areas from August 11.

The new officers will wear body cameras while on duty, so that all enforcement activity can be monitored.

It costs the council over £1.2 million a year to clean up litter and dog mess.
