A BARNSLEY man lost more than eight stones in two years to reach the final of a Slimming World competition.
Darrell Mitchell, 41, from Bowden Grove, Dodworth, weighed 22 stone 4lbs when he joined his local group in June 2012, but now tips the scales at 13 stone 11lbs.
He was one of just 36 entrants from across the UK and Ireland to reach the final of the Man of the Year 2014 competition on July 6 in Alfreton, Derbyshire, where Darrell met Sky Sports presenter Charlie Webster.
Darrell said: "When I first walked through the doors I was worried that, as a man, I'd be the odd one out.
"Now I realise it doesn't matter whether you're a man or a woman, younger or older or where you're from, everyone in that room is there for the same reason."
