LAST season's top scorer Chris O'Grady has joined Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 28-year-old striker, who bagged 15 goals last term, signed a three-year contract with the Seagulls for an undisclosed fee.

Born in Nottingham, O'Grady made 59 appearances for the Reds in total, finding the net 21 times.

A club statement said: "We would like to thank Chris for his hard work during his time at Oakwell and wish him every success in the future."

The news comes just three weeks since manager Danny Wilson claimed the Reds' prized possession had "nailed his colours" to the Barnsley mast.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Luke Steele - who made 227 appearances for the club during a six-year stint - left for Greek giants Panathinaikos on a free transfer.
