THE A61 at Birdwell, which is the country's second busiest road, will have its traffic problems resolved thanks to a £15.7 million investment.
The roundabout at junction 36 will continue the development of a new road scheme, with its capacity being increased to alleviate its flow.
Cabinet members approved the plans on Wednesday, which aim to boost the town's road network.
Coun Roy Miller said: "A high quality, efficient transport system which addresses areas of congestion helps reduce time lost by businesses and the travelling public, making the borough attractive to businesses looking for employment land.
"A lot of the funding that makes up the £15.7m is bid for in competition with other local councils, so it’s a great achievement to have been successful in a number of schemes."
