A BRIDE-TO-BE from Barnsley has won a dream Lake District wedding.
Newly engaged Abi Tolan, 23, and Brian Searles, 28, are set to tie the knot at a luxury lakeside hotel after beating off 1,000 entrants.
Abi, a healthcare assistant at Barnsley Hospital, entered The Daffodil Hotel and Spa's competition on a whim after Brian, a joiner, popped the question on Christmas Day.
The couple, who have been together for five years, are now planning to get married next spring.
Abi, from Raymond Avenue, Grimethorpe, said: "I didn’t even tell Brian I had entered as I didn’t think for a minute I would win.
"I have never entered any competitions before but I happened to come across The Daffodil when I was in the Lakes with a friend and fell in love with it.
"I knew we would never be able to afford a wedding there, so when I saw the competition online, I decided to try my luck. I now think it was fate."
The prize includes full use of the hotel, a red carpet drinks welcome, catering for up to 80 guests, lake view accommodation for the bride and groom and full use of the hotel’s wedding planner and master of ceremonies.
