BARNSLEY police officer Neil Losada and his dog Ace did the town proud at the national police dog trials.
PC Losada, 43, and his three-year-old Belgian Malinois (a shepherd dog) competed against 20 other police dog handlers and police dogs from across the country at the event held at Wentworth Woodhouse last weekend.
They qualified for the finals after making it through to the regional trials.
The police dog teams were tested in operational exercises which included tracking offenders, searching for discarded property, open wood search for a vulnerable person and two offenders, general obedience and agility and detention of fleeing suspect exercises which included chase and detain, stand off, emergency recall, and finally a test of courage with the stick attack and gun attack.
The overall winner was PC Paul Barnham and police dog Ethel from Surrey Police.
