BARNSLEY have not ruled out the possibility of Stephen Dawson playing for them next season - despite the midfielder rejecting a contract.

Dawson, 28, captained the side last term but turned down a new deal which was on reduced wages.

"We are not going to make him another offer," said chief executive Ben Mansford. "If he comes back later on and accepts our original offer, we would look at him again.

"For now we will move on to other targets."

Meanwhile, the Reds have rubbished reports that Tomasz Cywka and Jim O'Brien have also turned down their contract offers.

Negotiations are ongoing and they could be both wrapped up by the end of this week.
