PEOPLE in Barnsley can now use an online service to check which local GPs have made the switch to electronic prescriptions.
As part of a government drive to improve access to healthcare, many of the town's GP practices are now live with electronic prescriptions.
The 'eScript Finder' tool has been created to enable patients to easily check whether their GP practice is now offering electronic prescriptions.
However, recent research from YouGov has shown that three in four people from the region are not yet aware of it.
Pharmacist Dr Julian Harrison, director at Pharmacy2U, who launched the online tool, said: "The move to e-prescriptions gives patients more choice about where and how they get their prescribed medication.
"Our NHS repeat prescription service is now available for many patients in Barnsley and can be a useful option for those who don't find a traditional high street pharmacy a convenient choice.
"It is proving popular with people who work long hours, the elderly and busy commuters who want to save time."
