A PENSIONER was rescued from her home by fire-fighters after a blaze broke out at her bungalow.

Fire crews from Cudworth, Barnsley and Tankersley were called to the fire at Dorothy Kaye's home at York Street, Cudworth on Thursday.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "The porch area of the property was on fire.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the bungalow and led the lady to safety.

"The fire crews used hose reels to extinguish the fire.

"The lady, a pensioner, was suffering from smoke inhalation and was left with paramedics at the scene."

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
