POLICE searching for a man who went swimming in a reservoir on the outskirts of Barnsley have found his body.

The 38-year-old, who is believed to be from Huddersfield, had been camping with a friend at Snailsden reservoir near Dunford Bridge when he went for a swim but failed to return on Saturday night.

South and West Yorkshire Police forces and the fire service mounted a search effort.

A police helicopter, the two forces' dogs and underwater search officers assisted and police recovered a body from the water at around 4.05pm on Sunday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the man's family have been informed and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
