A BARNSLEY fan has raised over £3,000 for a children's cancer charity - after a five-year football stadium challenge.

Former Royston man Mark Dyson, 29, decided five years ago to visit all 92 Football League grounds in the country.

To complete the set he decided to walk from ground number one at Oakwell to the last one on his list, Fulham's Craven Cottage, on the last day of the Premiership season last Sunday.

"It took six days, and it was far harder than we'd ever imagined," said Mark, who grew up in Parkhead Close, Royston, but now lives in Northampton.

"The stadium tour has been a great way to see the country. We've clocked up well over 15,000 miles criss-crossing the country."

He and friend Ollie Warne have raised nearly £3,000 for Lennox Children's Cancer Fund on the way.
