A GAY pride music festival scheduled to take place this weekend has been postponed.

The Pinkfields event was supposed to be held tomorrow and Sunday on a 30-acre site at Cuckold Carr Farm in Gunthwaite.

It has now been put back to the final weekend in August due to problems 'beyond the control' of the organisers.

Headline acts at the festival included boyband A1, which had a couple of UK number ones in the early 2000s, MOBO award-winning hip hop group Big Brovaz and former X Factor contestant Amelia Lily.

A statement posted on the Pinkfields website reads: "Unfortunately we have encountered some problems beyond our control. This has resulted in us taking the difficult decision to reschedule the festival.

"We will be contacting everyone that has purchased a ticket individually by email. These tickets will be valid for the new date along with a complimentary VIP upgrade, or a full refund."

The festival will now take place on August 30 and 31.

Organiser Andy Edmondson, a former pub landlord who used to run the Forsters Arms in Lower Cumberworth, near Denby Dale, was unavailable for comment.
