POLICE say they are growing concerned for the welfare of a man who was last seen heading to Hoyland.

Sydney Lakin, 64, left his home in High Green at around 10.30am on Tuesday.

He said he intended to travel to his daughter’s house in Hoyland, Barnsley, but he never arrived.

Mr Lakin, who would have intended to use public transport to make the journey, has receding grey hair and is of medium build.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue polo shirt, a red coat and blue trainers, with red and white stripes on them.

Mr Lakin, or anyone with information as to his whereabouts, should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 785 of Tuesday,  May 6.
