A TROUBLED school is losing its headteacher and deputy as both have got jobs at other schools.
Shafton Primary Academy head Ruth Lyons leaves in the summer and is serving notice but is currently off sick.
Parents organised a petition to remove her from her post 18 months ago because of claims there were problems with pupil discipline, bullying among pupils, concerns about teaching standards and a lack of communication between the school and parents.
Mike Barnett, spokesman for the school's sponsor, AET, said: "We are currently making arrangements for an experienced headteacher to take over the position in September."
Mr Barnett confirmed that deputy headteacher Tamara Gulliver is also leaving the school in July.
Coun Dave North said that Shafton is a school that has been struggling for a number of years.
"Ofsted have been back a number of times since it was given notice to improve, and it's not been good," he added.
"The school has made very little progress. It makes me sad to think that it has come to this."
