THE man who suffered life-threatening injuries in an incident in Cundy Cross last week has been named.

Craig Howson, 33, remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering injuries in Rotherham Road on April 8.

Detectives are keeping an open mind as to how Mr Howson, from Cundy Cross, came to sustain these injuries.

Det Supt Lisa Ray said: "We know that Mr Howson was at his sister’s house that evening, nearby, and left there at around 10.30pm to make his way on foot back to Rotherham Road.

"Then, at some point between 10.30pm and 11pm, he suffered extremely serious injuries, the circumstances of which remain unclear.

"We are not ruling out the possibility that Mr Howson may have been assaulted or may even have been involved in a road traffic collision.

"This is why it is absolutely critical that witnesses, or anyone with information, comes forward with any information they may have.

"Your information, however apparently insignificant, may be key to this enquiry, and may provide the answers that Mr Howson’s devastated family need."

Extensive enquiries are ongoing in a bid to discover the circumstances behind Mr Howson's injuries. These have occurred trawling through CCTV and making house-to-house enquiries in the area.

Anyone with any information that could assist detectives, including anyone living in the local area who has CCTV, should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1276 of April 8, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
