THE opening hours of five libraries in Barnsley will be changing from April 28.
Cudworth, Grimethorpe, Penistone, Priory and Royston libraries will see changes after feedback from local users.
Priory library will open at a new earlier time of 9.30am, five days a week. There will also be an extended opening for Grimethorpe library on Wednesdays with library users being able to make the most of the facilities until 7pm.
There will also be a slight decrease in opening times, by two-and-a-half hours, for libraries at Cudworth and Royston. The changes will see Royston library open on Mondays from 9am to 5pm and Cudworth library open on Tuesdays from 9am to 5pm.
The changes will also see new opening times on Saturdays for both the libraries, from 9.30am to 12pm.
Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesperson for adults and communities, said: "We have set these new hours to meet the local demand. We will be reviewing these hours on annual basis to make sure our libraries continue to meet the needs of the people they serve."
