A BARNSLEY charity has appealed to the public to offer a home to a Jack Russell who is blind in one eye.
Six-year-old Joey, whose current foster family are moving house and are no longer allowed to keep pets, needs a permanent home to be able to have the sight-correcting surgery he desperately needs.
The Barnsley and District Animal Welfare service issued an appeal on its Facebook page on Tuesday urging a temporary or permanent carer to come forward.
"We are only £800 short of reaching our £3,000 target to pay for Joey's cataracts surgery," a spokeswoman said. "He must be in a home to be allowed to have the operation, so we desperately need to find him one."
Joey, who was put into kennels after being found as a stray, is said to be a 'lovely' dog and will have many happy years ahead after his surgery.
