STAFF at the town centre's Herbert Brown store face an uncertain future after it went into administration.
Four staff at the Peel Street shop have been left at risk of redundancy.
Herbert Brown, which specialises in pawnbroking, buying gold, cheque cashing and unsecured lending, was founded in Leeds in 1840 and has 44 stores across the UK.
Administrator Mike Jervis said: "We plan to sell all or part of the business to protect as many jobs as possible.
"Every branch will initially remain open as sale discussions progress. This also enables customers to continue to redeem their goods as normal as they pay off their loans."
