VOLUNTEERS who were cleaning up fly-tipping were horrified to find a dead dog in a sack.
The Friends of Elsecar Park also found remains of rabbits and pheasants in the garbage which had been tossed down a small ravine on the reservoir side of the park near the far end of the dam wall on Water Lane.
Chairwoman Linda Webster said the dead dog had been placed in the sack and then dumped.
"You can imagine the stench," she added. "We had a clear-up about six months ago and this is what we come back to find in what is a lovely little woodland area.
"How people can do something like this is really just beyond me. We are surrounded by beautiful nature and they just want to destroy it."
