CONTROVERSIAL speed humps on a Royston road are being removed at a cost of £58,000.

The future of Midland Road's humps has been talked about for months on We Are Barnsley, and we can now reveal that they are to be removed as part of a highways improvement scheme to benefit road users and pedestrians.

The work - expected to take four weeks to complete - will be carried out by the council and will cost £58,000.

A council spokesman said: "The speed humps will be removed in response to feedback from local residents and the travelling public."

Work will begin on Sunday, March 23.
