BARNSLEY Hospice is preparing to celebrate its 20-year anniversary with the completion of its latest extension.

The £700,000 project, which has been mainly funded by the NHS, will create extra treatment and counselling rooms, plus a new lounge for the inpatients unit.

The external work is now finished and the unit will be handed over at the end of April.

Diana Gibson, director of patient services, said: "We are thrilled and proud to be completing the latest improvements.

"The people of Barnsley show us great support and we are very grateful for all the fundraising that enables us able to carry on caring for the people who need our help."
