POLICE and council enforcement officers are working to move on a gypsy camp that has set up in the car park of Locke Park.

Earlier this week, residents reported that the car park was full of caravans, the brick boulders had been moved and some caravans had been spotted on the tennis courts.

Others reported piles of rubbish, smashed glass, and said little room had been left for residents visiting the park to leave their cars.

A council spokesman said: "Barnsley Council is aware of the traveller encampment at Locke Park and is working alongside South Yorkshire Police to resolve any issues."
