SUPERMARKET giant Aldi has revealed it plans to build a new supermarket in Royston - creating up to 40 jobs.

The company plans to apply to Barnsley Council for permission to build the store and ten houses on land on High Street, on the site of the former spring factory.

Site developers, Quora, and Aldi issued a newsletter to 1,600 residents and local business asking for their views.

Mark Taylor, property director for Aldi, said: "The development will regenerate a redundant site and provide investment including the introduction of 40 local jobs."

Anyone wishing to submit their views to developers can do so by sending an email to aldiconsultation@planningpotential.co.uk
