LATEST figures have shown that more than 70 per cent of adults in Barnsley are overweight.
The figures - released by Public Health England - makes Barnsley the second most obese town in the county, behind only Doncaster.
Dr Stephen Morton, centre director at PHE, said: "It's an issue that requires action at national, local, family and individual level.
"This new data will enable councils to monitor progress towards the national ambition of achieving a downward trend in the figures by 2020."
