Last year's LIVE in Barnsley festival featured 99 bands, over 400 musicians and was attended by over 3,000 music lovers. It'll be bigger and even better this year, its organisers claim!

The festival's success was highlighted in the 2013 Proud of Barnsley awards, with a further nomination in the prestigious UK Festival Awards.

Just before Christmas it was announced that Feargal Sharkey is to be patron of the festival.

Feargal will be fondly remembered by many as the singer for The Undertones who had UK hits with songs such as 'Teenage Kicks' and 'Here Comes The Summer' to name a few.

This year's festival takes place on Saturday,  June 21 and the organisers have announced that there will be more venues and more bands than last year.

Co-organiser Dave Pearsall said: "We're really pleased to announce that all eleven venues that took part in 2013 will take part again and there will be two additional venues.

"The first of those is Club Retro which is underneath The Londoner and has hosted a number of one-off gigs previously.

"The second is The Civic and we're really excited they're on board.

"It gives us an opportunity to broaden the music on offer, utilise the big stage and include brass bands, jazz, classical music, string quartets and even choirs.

"With seating for over 300 it makes The Civic the second largest capacity venue of the festival."
