LOAN ace Ryan McLaughlin believes Barnsley should face every remaining league game like it's a 'cup final'.

The 19-year-old, who signed on a 28-day loan from Liverpool, impressed on his debut as the Reds beat Blackpool on Saturday.

Although they're still at the bottom of the Championship, those three vital points closed the gap on their rivals.

Barnsley now find themselves just four points from safety.

McLaughlin said: "We needed those three points badly so I was happy to play my part in the win.

"Every game is now like a cup final as we're in the relegation zone.

"These three points hopefully can kick off a little run.

"The Championship is a hard league and everybody knows that, so we're just happy to have got a win in."

Although many fans have expressed their delight at seeing a highly-rated youngster at Oakwell, they're disappointed the loan deal is only for a month.

"I’d definitely like to stay here longer, but it’s up to Liverpool," added Ryan. "They’ll decide what they think is best, but I’d love to stay.

"I want to play as many games as possible."

McLaughlin, Stoke City's USA international Brek Shea, ex-Sunderland midfielder Liam Lawrence and Hull City's Nick Proschwitz have given the team a lift.

Manager Danny Wilson said: "The new players have given us a bit of spark.

"They have that energy and pace that we've lacked.

"I thought the debutants were outstanding against Blackpool."
