POLICE have made a fresh appeal for information after a man was killed in a hit and run in Goldthorpe. Peter Topping, 56, died from his injuries when a car ran over him on Co-Operative Street, Goldthorpe on Thursday, December 29. It is thought that Peter had been lying in the road when an unknown car drove over him - and carried on along Co-Operative Street and then turned right into Doncaster Road.
A spokesman said: "Officers investigating the incident would like witnesses to come forward if they have seen Mr Topping lying in the road, seen the impact itself or think they may have been in the car that hit Peter Topping.
"Police are also interested to hear from anybody who has noticed the absence of a locally owned/parked car or an abandoned one."
Peter's daughter Ashleigh Topping, 29, said: "I am anxious to find out what happened to my dad. He was a lovely man and I miss him terribly. If anyone knows anything about how he died, I'd urge you to contact the police."
