A TEENAGER failed to stop when ordered by traffic cops.

Jordan Michael Berry, 18, had no lights on and was in his girlfriend's car without her permission, said Paul Macaulay, prosecuting at Barnsley Magistrates' Court.

Mr Macaulay said: "The police car flashed its lights. Mr Berry didn't take the hint so the police put their car's sirens and blue lights on.

"Mr Berry failed to stop and there was a short chase."

Sean Fritchley, defending, said Berry, of Spring Gardens, Barnsley, panicked when he saw the police.

Berry admitted taking a car without the owner's consent, failing to stop for the police, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and having no insurance.

His case was adjourned until January 9 for a pre-sentence report and he was granted unconditional bail.
