THE Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal has raised £5,645.68 in Mapplewell and Staincross!
Fundraisers in shops, churches, schools and businesses collected just over £900, and the 13-day collection in Mapplewell and Staincross Co-ops made £4,742.31!
Harry Makinee, 80, of Greenside, Staincross, is a committee member on the Churchfield branch of the British Legion. He said: "It was a lot of work but it's been worth it.
"We have raised £600 more than last year. It really shows the public's generosity."
The money raised will go towards the British Legion's support of serving members of the armed forces, ex-servicemen, their families and dependants.
