A POTENTIALLY lifesaving scheme has been rolled out across Barnsley to help vulnerable people.

'Message in a Bottle' was launched by Barnsley Lions, Barnsley Tenants and Residents Association (TARA), Berneslai Homes and Kier on December 9.

The scheme works by providing vulnerable people with a bottle in which they place details of medical conditions, personal details and who to contact in an emergency.

It's then placed in a fridge - a universal location where paramedics would be expected to look for it.

They're alerted by a green sticker on the door of the property.

It's a simple and cost effective way of assisting the emergency services by making sure they have access to on the spot, relevant information.

The scheme is free to anyone who feels they would benefit from it.
