A BARNSLEY man has been charged after targeting the elderly - including allegedly defrauding a 79-year-old woman of over £54,000.
Ian Lawson, 35, of Cedar Crescent, appeared at Barnsley Magistrates' on November 4.
The charge is in relation to three separate incidents, dating back to June this year.
The first incident happened on June 18, when an 85-year-old Barnsley man paid for gardening work that is reported to have never happened.
The second incident happened on July 21, when an 83-year-old Barnsley man paid for building work that is reported to have never taken place.
The third incident is in relation to a 79-year-old Barnsley woman who has been defrauded of over £54,000 since August.
Lawson was remanded in custody and will next appear at Sheffield Crown Court on November 18, 2013.
