A SERIES of events will be held by Barnsley College’s Sports Academy in the run up to the Olympic Games.

The Newham Barnsley Partnership has given the college £2,500 for a series of events to celebrate the Olympic values.

A spokesman said: "Each event organised by the College will reflect one of the values and will get Barnsley College students involved and excited about the 2012 Games.

"Public Services students will complete an adventurous activity which will enable them to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity. Sports students will also get involved in an old fashioned sports day plus the College will run a 10 week wheelchair basketball programme, which will end with a tournament."
