A 19-year-old woman who was allegedly attacked at Thurnscoe Train Station yesterday claims her attackers threatened to throw her in front of an oncoming train.
One of our sources say the woman was allegedly attacked by three teenage girls - after causing her bodily harm, it is alleged they then dragged her to the edge of the track and threatened to throw her in front of a train. The victim apparently managed to struggle out of their grasp to safety.
We contacted British Transport Police (BTP) for a statement. They said: “I can confirm that BTP officers are investigating a report of a violent disorder at Thurnscoe rail station on Wednesday, 20 July 2011. “A 19-year-old woman reported that she was assaulted by three teenage girls on the station platform around 7.55pm.
“BTP and South Yorkshire Police officers attended and three girls, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, all from Thurnscoe, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and for threats to kill.
“The station was closed whilst detectives carried out enquiries at the scene. Investigators are working to establish the full circumstances and are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident, to come forward.”
